TeluguOne Foundation is a two year old non-profit organization founded with the belief that every child has the Right to Education and Health. One of the objectives of the foundation is to provide every aspiring underprivileged child access to all levels of education.
Background:
As per the 2000-2001 censuses, 44% of India’s adult population is uneducated and is among the countries with the highest rates of illiteracy in the world. As per the same census the dropout rates of all children for class I-V, I-VIII, and I-X are 40.7%, 53.7% and 68.58% respectively. Dropout rates for girl children are much higher than these numbers.
Causes:
Due to financial constraints, and the need to support the family, many intelligent and aspiring children are forced to drop out of school. Also, lack of proper understanding on the long term benefits of education as opposed to short term monetary gain, parents tend to force their children to work at an early age. Girl child are looked upon as a burden, so parents want to relieve themselves by marrying them off at an early age instead of educating them
Approach:
We identify meritorious and deserving students from elementary school level to college level and provide them with direct financial support to complete their education.
Transparency:
Donors have complete access to our work through case studies, videos, images etc.
